“A Mind Full of Open Doors”

Hello There!
Welcome to The Detalles!

Have you ever wondered what goes on inside the mind of a creative person? Mine is a little like a house with too many doors and windows—always open, always letting something new come in. An idea may arrive while I’m cooking, a color may catch my eye while I’m gardening, or a texture may inspire me while I’m decorating. Somehow, they all find their way into my creative world.

In this post, I want to take you into my studio and show you how I work—not just the finished projects, but the beautiful, sometimes chaotic process behind them.

My brain is a conundrum of doors and windows—always open, always letting something new wander in. Ideas, colors, textures, memories, and possibilities mix and intertwine, often all at once. One thought leads to another, and before I know it, I have opened another door to a new idea.

When I’m not decorating, cooking, or gardening, you will find me in my studio, my sanctuary. This is where all those open doors and windows seem to meet.

I always have several projects started, each one calling me in a different direction. A piece of fabric may be waiting for paint, a painting may be waiting for another layer, a piece of furniture may be waiting for a little detail, while another idea is already taking shape in my mind.

To some, it may look like a beautiful mess. To me, it is simply how my creativity works.

No matter what project I have in mind, I always begin with a little ritual. I light an aromatic candle and put on music or an audiobook. Somehow, those simple details help me relax, settle my mind, and concentrate on the creative process.
And that’s part of my creative process.
I move from one project to another, following my curiosity and allowing each idea to have its own time. Sometimes I finish something quickly; other times, a project needs to sit and wait until I know what it wants to become.
My studio is not just a place where I make things. It is where all the doors and windows of my imagination can stay open.
When the workday is over, I take the time to clean and organize everything again. I love knowing that when I walk into my studio the next day, I will find a fresh, clean space waiting for me—and a new idea ready to unfold.

So, if you have ever felt that your mind is full of ideas, that you want to create a little bit of everything, or that your projects seem to multiply overnight—you are not alone. Maybe that is simply the beautiful way creativity works.
