Living big in small spaces

Sometimes we have to work with spaces that are less than desired. Living in small spaces doesn't mean you have to give up style. It means you get to be creative.

Here are a few tips to help you along the way:

  • Don't drown your space with smaller decorative pieces. Instead find a large piece that creates drama and sprinkle in the smaller and mid size pieces.
  • Think quality over quantity. One large, specific piece adds character.
  • For each piece you add to your environment, consider the size and proportion to keep balance.

The urn in this photo creates drama and commands attention. The placement of smaller items cozies up the room and invites balance.

Do not let the space of the house dictate your choices.  Instead let your home be a reflection of your ability to create your environment just as you imagined it. By keeping the proportions different and balanced you can make it interesting and fun.

Next time you're out browsing, think of the possibilities. Remember, beauty is in the details....
