New home progress update: brick, stone and finishes

Coming out of a cold winter, we are seeing some great progress on the construction of our new home. The brick-layers are done setting the stone and brick around the house. On the inside, the carpenters have finished with the wood work.

The front of the house looks great with the stone.

The kitchen cabinets have been delivered and are waiting to be set.

This is a small pantry between the kitchen area and the dinning room area. I bought a pair of old doors from a salvage architectural place to serve as my pantry doors.

In one of my adventures I found and took a picture of this beautiful door in an antique place in Phoenix Arizona. I wanted to recreate a similar paint technique on my salvage-yard doors.

This is a picture of the door as a work in progress. I set a copy of my picture against the door so you can see the technique I replicated. Follow us to see the complete project.

I already started to peel some of the old paint on the second door.

My friends, Doug and Dakota are finishing what they can do for now. I am posting these pictures to compare the finished design when it is complete.

This is my guest bathroom. Dakota is building a table for my vanity.

I love my island built with reclaimed wood.

All the kitchen cabinets have been installed. I choose not to have upper cabinets to take advantage of the light and view from the window.

There are lots of projects and last minute decisions to make. I am excited to show you what I will be doing on the kitchen walls.

I am anxious to finish my home. I will keep you posted.

For now I say, thank you and adios!
