My French Country Style Guest Bathroom

Hello everyone,

Welcome to The Detalles!

There are many ways to create a guest bathroom that stands out, blending functionality and sophistication.

I was able to design my French Country guest bathroom from the bottom up when building my patio home. I found 2 beautifully carved french style cabriole legs on Etsy and decided to build a table to set up my sink, instead of a regular cabinet. The table legs were raw wood ideal for any kind of treatment.

My friends, Doug and Dakota, did an excellent job on creating my design.

The disadvantage of having an open area bellow the sink is not having cabinets or drawers to store bathroom essentials out of sight. The solution was to add a basket to store all the necessary items.

One of the guidelines to create a home that flows from one room to the next is to have a unified color palette.

It is important to start with the basics when you are creating a color scheme for your home. For example take into account elements of your home decor that will be a constant segment of your decorating like flooring, woodwork, countertops, etc. and get some samples.

With samples in hand it is easier to color coordinate the walls and other elements of the room. I found a beautiful granite in earth tones for the countertop that worked great with my vision.

When designing an area, I try to think beyond the traditional. I ask myself, what can I do to make my design stand out?

As some of you may know, I am an artist. I created a focal point in the space by choosing a picture of one of my paintings to be made into a mural wallpaper. This can we done with any high resolution photo.

Accentuating the soaring 9-foot ceilings and selecting the perfect mirror that reached up to the highest point, created a sense of grandeur and spaciousness. The same attention to detail in choosing a shower curtain that cascaded all the way down, also accentuated the height of the space while infusing it with style and functionality. This makes the space feel tall, sophisticated and elegant. Touches like these can turn even the smallest space into a wonderful design.

I had a lot of fun designing and decorating this French Country Style bathroom.

I hope you enjoyed it!
